My time at James Watt

So far in this course i have enjoyed it, I've been in the college for 3 years and used to do art but then realised it's not what i want to do for a living! so i thought I'd give makeup a go. I'm glad i changed my mind and decided to do this course, i find it really interesting, I've met lots of new lovely people and I'm enjoying learning new skills. I hope to complete the course and get a job doing makeup.

Halloween

Witch

To achieve this look, firstly i would apply a green base (using grease paints) i would then start adding in shading using a black/grey at the cheekbones, jaw, nose and chin. I would then add highlighting on these same areas. I would apply black at the eyebrows to create big bushy eyebrows. Lastly i would, again using black. apply wrinkle lines around the eyes and forehead creating frown marks.

Vampire

To create this look i would start with applying a white base using greasepaint, then using a grey colour i would put in shading around the cheekbones, jaw, nose and chin. Then in these same areas i would put in some highlighting using white. I'd apply a dark colour around the eyes, maybe some red as well. Using black i would make the eyebrows bigger and flick the lines out and i would put some wrinkle lines around the eyes. Lastly i would apply a red/purple colour on the lips and put red 'blood' running from the corner or the mouth.

Zombie

To achieve this look i would begin with a white/grey base colour all over the face and lips ( using grease paints) i would then use black/grey to darken around the eyes. Using black/grey i would add in shading at the cheekbones, nose, chin and jaw. To finish off i would use red and create cuts and blood in areas around the face.

Preparation for Assessments

Preparing for assessments includes firstly watching the lecturer giving a demo then going away and practising on others in the class and letting them practise on you. You need to insure you know what all the products you are using are called and why they are used, what effect they give. You gather research- different pictures on what you are wanting to do. Once you have practised and feel more confident you will do a pre-assessment. Once you have passed your pre-assessment you can then sit your actually assessment.

CfE

Curriculum for Excellence aims to achieve a transformation in education in Scotland by providing a coherent, more flexible and enriched curriculum from 3 to 18. The curriculum includes the totality of experiences which are planned for children and young people through their education, wherever they are being educated.

Four Capacities
  • Successful Learners
  • Confident Individuals
  • Responsible Citizens
  • Effective Contributors
In the college classes you use these skills everyday. By the end of every lesson u have learned something new and improved your skills. You become more confident not only in what you're doing in class but as a person as everyday you are working with different people. You need to be responsible for taking care of the equipment provided by the college and be responsible for your actions. You need to put yourself out there and get involved in the class.

We use these skills in each of our classes. In every class we become successful learners by listening to our lecturers, taking in the information they are giving us and practicing the skills they are showing us. In our course we are working with different people all the time and approaching new people which means we are dealing with different personalities, this builds up our confidence greatly and is preparing us for when we get a job in the future. You become a responsible citizen in the classes as you are responsible for looking after the college equipment, you are responsible for putting everything away and cleaning up after yourself. You are also responsible for completing your work properly and on time. You are an effective contributor as you take part in the class and we are planning a fundraising event which everyone will be taking part in.
